Brian Eno Calls On Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The track showcases a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
